Endemic koa trees (Acacia koa) at night in Kokee State Park, Kauai, Hawaii. The tree with sword shaped leaves in the bottom-left is the endemic hala pepe (Pleomele aurea). The unusual branching on the koa tree is, according to Nicolai Barca, Field Technician for The Nature Conservancy on Kauai, sucker growth "in response to a light gap."
