Boudhanath is the religious center for the Buddhist Tibetan population in Nepal, a neighborhood of Kathmandu dominated by a giant stupa, the largest in Nepal. On May 9, 2009, in honor of Buddha's birthday, worshipers gathered in even greater numbers to pray, light butter candles and circumambulate the stupa.
